Berks Surveying & Engineering, Inc. (BSE) began in 1991 by previous owner, Bruce T. Rader, PE, PLS. The company's location in central Berks County, PA, allows convenient access to all of Berks County, the Greater Reading area, Allentown area, and the adjacent counties.
Robert D. Hain, PLS, SEO - President/Principal
Mr. Hain is a PA Licensed Surveyor, Sewage Enforcement Officer, and Drone Pilot. He has worked with Berks Surveying & Engineering, Inc. for over 26 years. As of January 1, 2024, Rob became the new Owner & President and continues to serve as Lead Project Manager, Civil Designer, & Survey Crew Chief. He oversees daily daily operations of the survey and design staff. His position involves working closely with clients to determine the extent and characteristics of their proposed development, while complying with applicable regulations. He has extensive experience in land surveying, subdivision, land development, stormwater and erosion control/NPDES planning.
Bruce T. Rader, PE, PLS
Mr. Rader has over 32 years of engineering and land surveying experience. He established Berks Surveying & Engineering, Inc. in 1991. Over these years, Mr. Rader has been responsible for the management of surveying personnel and coordination of engineering projects such as subdivisions, annexations, land planning, stormwater, and erosion & sedimentation control design for commercial, residential and municipal applications. He has represented clients at municipal planning and zoning meetings in Berks, Lehigh, Chester, Montgomery, and Carbon Counties. Prior to forming the company, Mr. Rader worked as an engineer, manager, land surveyor, drafter, and construction worker. Her served in the U.S. Army Reserves for six years. He has specialized training and expertise in computer-aided-design, project management, land development, GPS, robotic instrumentation, and natural gas engineering.
Cindy A. Cunard-Hogan - Office Manager, AP/AR, HR Manager, PA Notary Public
Ms. Cunard-Hogan grew up assisting her father -- a fifth generation PA land surveyor -- in the field in Bedford County, PA. She has worked for Berks Surveying & Engineering, Inc. for over 18 years in customer service, estimating/invoicing, and as a project technician for the Land Surveying and Engineering department. Prior to joining BSE, Cindy received her degree in Communications Design and worked as owner/manager of Hogan Design Company and other local printing and marketing firms in the Berks/Lehigh County areas. She has volunteered with the Northeast Berks Chamber of Commerce, Kutztown Community Partnership, & Kutztown Fraternal Order of Eagles, where she served on different boards. She currently serves as Office Manager, AP/AR, PA Notary Public, and also maintains HR/QA data and operations procedures for BSE.
Amanda Marbarger, - Estimates Manager,
Ag Planning Specialist, NMC-2109, Project Technician
Ms. Marbarger is part of a 9th generation Berks County farm family. She brought her wealth of agricultural background and training to BSE in 2021 and specializes in agricultural designs for nutrient management plans. As Estimates Manager, she assists commercial, residential, and agricultural customers with their Land Surveying, Erosion & Sedimentation Control, Stormwater, NPDES, Zoning, Subdvision, Permitting, Nutrient Management, Zoning, & Land Development Planning needs.
Daniel A. Graybill, Jr. - Project Manager, Survey Technician
Mr. Graybill began working with Berks Surveying & Engineering, Inc. in 2006. He is a Project Manager, Civil Designer, and Survey Technician. His position involves land surveying, preparation of site design plans, and managing projects involving subdivision, land development, stormwater, and erosion control/NPDES planning.
Ellen L. Ingraham, Septic Specialist, Project Coordinator
It is with great regret that BSE announces Ms. Ingraham's passing on December 21st, 2023. Ellen brought over 30 year's of experience as a Septic Specialist & former Sewage Enforcement Officer to assist BSE's clients with their percolation and soils testing and septic designs to meet the municipal building and subdivision planning requirements. As a first step to new residential and commercial construction, her expertise was crucial to identifying a property's geological and soils features, in order to coordinate the best options for building, septic, & stormwater drainage locations. Although BSE will continue to offer Septic Design & Planning Services to their clients, Ellen will be greatly missed.
Land Surveyors & Survey Technicians
BSE utilizes top-grade robotic GPS instruments and our land surveying crew are trained professionals with multiple years of experience in boundary retracements, construction stakeout, ALTA surveys, topographic surveys, & more. They are courteous and professional and their work is thoroughly checked by the survey crew chief and Professionally Licensed Pennsylvania Land Surveyors. We employ a one-person survey crew where appropriate -- forwarding this reduced cost to our customers.
